Mail Art, the exchange of artwork between artists via the postal system, developed out of the Neo Dada, Fluxus and Pop Art movement in the 1950s and 60s, though it has since developed into a global movement that
continues to the present.

The Mail Art Network expanded as artists saw the opportunity to meet, correspond and participate in an open-ended social and professional network. The mail art philosophy of openness and inclusion is exemplified by the
“rules”: a mail art show has no jury, no entry fee, no censorship, all works are exhibited. The original contributions are not to be returned and remain the property of the organizers, but a catalogue or documentation is sent free to
all the participants in exchange for their works.

 

Bamboo Mail-Art Project 2013

45 Artists from 19 countries sent their works. Now a complete magazine has been produced, the “Snail Mail Art Zine N°1 Bamboo”. May many other publications follow, and may the Mail Art Network expand continuously.
